Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well organised. We've made a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Balaclava escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a pleasure if you carry the right things. First things first, you'll need basic toiletries, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a clean set of clothes and a good read. Secondly, make room in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, your medications and maybe a blow-up neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to take your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have a Swiss Army knife lurking in one of the compartments of your carry-on luggage. Other banned items include explosive or flammable products, such as fuel and fireworks, and liquids and gels in containers larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should always be your main priority when deciding what to wear on your flight. Consider your footwear carefully too, as swollen feet and ankles are quite common. Flat shoes which are slightly roomy are always a sensible way to go.
- Most travellers have heard about DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. There's plenty you can do to minimize your risk. Don a pair of compression tights or socks, stay hydrated and move your legs and feet. Wander up and down the aisles of the cabin or try out some exercises in your seat.
