We've rounded up all the info you need to make your flight as pain-free as possible. Follow our insider tips and you'll be cruising through the airport and discovering Bali before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It's easy — first, pack in your passport, travel docs, bank cards and medications. Next, you'll need some entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy novel and a phone crammed with your favourite shows are some terrific options. If you intend to take a short nap, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some deodorant so you'll touchdown feeling fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and fuels, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane are no place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and choose shoes that are closed-toe, flat and easy to remove.
- Caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clotting condition that can affect passengers during long-haul flights. Lower your risks by staying hydrated, keeping your legs and feet moving and wearing compression socks to help improve your circulation.
