Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you've planned ahead. Follow these essential travel tips that will help get your Cambridge holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a stress-free experience if you bring the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a spare change of clothes and a few magazines. Next, leave space in your carry-on bag for your mobile phone, a charger, any daily medications and maybe a neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel docs and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp objects, like your beloved Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and strong acids, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your number one priority when choosing what to wear on board. Loose clothing is a smart choice, as are flat, slip-on shoes.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by lengthy periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to wander around the cabin or do some gentle exercises in your seat to promote better circulation.
