We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey an enjoyable experience. Follow our tips and tricks and you'll be speeding through airport security and discovering Cambridge before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a pleasure if you take the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a fresh change of clothes and a good book. Next, find room in your bag for your laptop, a charger, any daily medications and perhaps a comfy neck pillow as well. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of restricted items differs between airlines, the general rule of thumb is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like knives, scissors, spray paint and flares. Sporting equipment like ice skates, and items that could harm passengers, such as firearms and swords, are also banned from the cabin.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to choose comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes by dressing in layers, and opt for flat, enclosed footwear like slip-ons.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
