No matter where you’re coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you’ve prepared well enough. We’ve compiled a list of top travel tips that will get your Derinkuyu holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- It’s easy — first, put in your passport, official ID, bank cards and daily medications. Next, you’ll want some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A juicy novel and a laptop crammed with your favourite shows are some wonderful options. If you intend to take a quick nap, a neck pillow and some earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some deodorant so you’ll arrive at your destination looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between airlines, the general rule to follow is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes screwdrivers, knives, fuels and bleaching agents. Sporting equipment like bows and arrows, and items that could harm passengers, such as swords and guns, are also banned from the cabin.
What to wear on a flight:
- The narrow aisles of your plane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Wear comfortable clothes and take a sweater as the temperature can drop inside the cabin on long-haul flights. Flat, enclosed shoes are always a good idea too.
- The serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It’s the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking up and down the aisle and doing leg and foot exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this from occurring. Wearing a pair of compression socks or tights also helps reduce your risk.
