We've rounded up all the info you need to make your journey a stress-free experience. Follow our top tips and you'll be hightailing it through airport security and having a ball in Galway in next to no time. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, pack in your passport, important documents, wallet and vital medications. Next, you'll want some extra in-flight entertainment to while away the time. A thrilling novel and a phone filled with your favourite shows are always good options. If you intend to take a quick nap, a neck pillow and some earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, leave some space for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes to ensure you arrive feeling fresh and ready to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Pointed or sharp objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, flares and matches, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim is to feel as comfortable as possible. Opt for easy-to-remove footwear, dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and remember to take a jacket in case you get cold in the cabin.
- You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of inactivity. To lessen your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression tights or socks and keep your feet and legs moving.
