If you're not prepared, airports and flying can be daunting. But there's no need to panic. Follow these handy hints and enjoy a comfortable start to your holiday in Jolly Harbour. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be easy if you take the right gear. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletry items, such as lip balm and hand cream, a spare change of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, find a spot in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, any vital medications and maybe a comfy neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like your treasured Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and poisons, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Dress in comfortable layers and go for shoes that are flat and easy to remove.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
