Wherever you’re coming from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you’ve planned ahead. We’ve made a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Kathmandu holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, put in your passport, official ID, credit cards and daily medications. Next, you’ll need some entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy novel and a tablet crammed with your favourite shows are some fantastic options. If you plan to take a short nap, a quality neck pillow and some noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, leave space for a toothbrush and some facial wipes so you’ll step off the plane feeling fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don’t have sharp objects (like a knife or scissors) hiding in one of the zippers of your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include flammable or explosive products, like aerosols and matches, and gels and liquids in containers with a capacity of more than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of your plane are no fashion runway. Layer yourself up with comfortable clothes and pack a cardigan as it can get quite cool in the cabin on long-haul flights. Flat, enclosed shoes are also a sensible choice.
- Most travellers are aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of inactivity. There’s plenty you can do to reduce your risk. Don a pair of compression socks or tights, drink plenty of water and move your legs and feet. Do a few laps of the cabin or perform some stretches in your seat.
