Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you prepare well enough. We've made a list of handy travel tips that will get your Kinshasa escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a great experience if you carry the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a clean set of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, find room in your carry-on bag for your electronic gadgets, chargers, any daily medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel documents and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Make sure you don't have sharp or pointed objects hiding in one of the compartments of your hand luggage. Other banned items include flammable or explosive goods, such as bleach and fuel, and liquids and gels in containers with a volume of more than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The main aim is to feel as comfortable as possible. Layer up in natural fibers and don't forget to pack a sweater in case you get cold. Opt for a pair of roomy, flat shoes as your feet may swell during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy hiking boots in your main luggage.
- Most travellers are aware of DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. There are many ways to lessen your risk. Wear a pair of compression socks or tights, drink lots of water often and keep your legs and feet moving. Walk around the cabin when possible or try out some exercises in your seat.
