Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well enough. We've made a list of handy tips and tricks that will help get your Necker Island escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First and foremost, put in your passport, travel documents, bank cards and medications. Next, you'll want some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A thrilling book and a laptop filled with your favourite shows are good options. If you intend to catch up on some sleep, a comfy neck pillow and a pair of earplugs will also be useful. Finally, squeeze in a few toiletry items to ensure you hop off the plane looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp objects, like your precious pocket knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, chemicals agents and fireworks, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane are no place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and opt for shoes that are roomy, flat and easy to take on and off.
- The result of sustained periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot condition that can affect some passengers on long-haul flights. Lower your risks by staying hydrated, keeping your legs and ankles moving and wearing compression socks to help improve your circulation.
