Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Pisa could be as easy as pie or it could go on forever. We've put together some useful tips that will help you start your next big adventure on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a cruisy experience if you carry the right stuff. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a spare change of clothes and a good book. Next, leave space in your hand luggage for your phone and charger, any medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel documents and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes tools, metal cutlery, spray paint and flares. Sports equipment like ice skates, and objects that could harm other people, such as guns and swords, can't come on board with you either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an aircraft are no place for a fashion parade. Dress in comfortable layers and pick shoes that are enclosed, flat and easy to remove.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
