Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be an enjoyable experience if you prepare well enough. We've compiled a list of handy travel tips that will help get your Riyadh holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having an amazing flight experience is to be prepared. So, let's start with the basics: passport, boarding pass, bank cards and daily medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help pass the time, like some electronic devices or a magazine. It's also a wise idea to pack your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones. Finally, be sure to chuck in toiletries like a toothbrush, deodorant and a spare set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have a Swiss Army knife hiding in your hand luggage. Other banned items include flammable or explosive products, such as fuel and fireworks, and liquids and gels in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main priority is to feel as comfortable as you can. Go for a pair of flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and don't forget to take a jacket in case it gets chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
