No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well enough. We've compiled a list of handy hints that will get your San Juan escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a comfortable experience if you've got all the right stuff. First of all you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a fresh set of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, find room in your bag for your electronic devices, chargers, your important medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, remember to bring your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and strong acids, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to feel as comfortable as possible. Go for slip-on footwear, dress in loose, natural-fibre clothing and don't forget to take a pullover in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
