- A plane ride can be a cruisy experience if you carry the right gear. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a spare pair of socks and a good book. Next, find a spot in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, medications and maybe a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have sharp objects (like a pocket knife) lurking in one of the zippers of your carry-on luggage. Other banned items include explosive or flammable substances, like aerosols and matches, and liquids and gels in containers larger than 3null4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The answer to a comfortable flight is often as simple as your choice of clothing. Prepare for changes in temperature by bringing layers. That way you'll stay nice and warm if the cabin starts to cool down. Shoes like high heels and sandals are best left for other occasions. Instead, go for flat, closed-toed footwear like slip-ons. Your feet will appreciate it.
- A serious condition known as DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation. Walking around the cabin and doing regular leg and foot exercises in your seat is a great way to prevent this from happening. Wearing a good pair of compression socks can also help.
