If you're poorly prepared, air travel can be tough. But there's no need to panic. Follow these useful tips for a worry-free start to your time in Yakima. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a pleasure if you've got all the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a clean set of clothes and a good book. Next, find room in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, any daily medications and maybe a cosy neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to bring your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Pointed or sharp objects, like your precious Swiss Army knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and strong acids, are also restricted.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your main priority is to be as comfortable as possible. Opt for shoes that are easy to slip on and off, dress in loose, breathable clothing and remember to bring a jacket in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
