River Chess at Chenies Bottom: Dodd's Mill leat This broad channel is actually a leat built to provide a head of water to the former Dodd's Mill that is behind the photographer. The actual river flows here in the valley to the right. (By a totally unplanned coincidence I see that this photograph has been taken two years to the day after 139218 and 139226 also in this grid square.)

Good clean room, however, the widow faced the airport elevator which is all glass. No privacy! Also, there was no hot water in the morning and couldn't take a shower before the flight. All being said, a very convenient option for an early morning flight.

Rickmansworth

Latimer House. Built in 1863 to replace an earlier Elizabethan house which burnt down in the 1830's. The building is now used as a conference centre but has many historic links. Charles I was briefly imprisoned here in 1647. Gladstone and Disraeli both visited the house. It was used to house captured German U boat crews and airmen during WWII.
