This was our 6th stay in Chicago, the first at 21C. We have a 21C in our hometown where I had a school reunion, so we were really looking forward to our stay. We will not ever stay in this one again. It took almost 40 minutes waiting for an elevator the day we checked out. My husband went down nine floors of stairs with some of our luggage because we had to wait so many times for an open elevator. We had to call the hotel for our security deposit, and eventually, well after two full weeks, almost seventeen days, it was finally refunded. The barn door of the bathroom led to absolutely no privacy while in the bathroom, and if you tried to close it too far for some privacy, the door would get stuck. Our view was the top of a building next door. They boasted about the complimentary water bottles at check in - but you get two per room, so if you have three people, one of you has nothing. In addition, there were only two water filling stations, and one ice machine in the entire hotel which was downstairs. I’m not exactly sure what the extra $80 fee was for, because other than the blocky rooms of a few pieces of art, there was no other amenities. The only bonus is that Trader Joe’s is across the street, which was convenient. By far our WORST hotel experience in one of our favorite cities.
