"I had not just a great visit but a magical visit to this part western Everglades. My eastern Everglades tour was spent in a high rise chain moderately priced hotel. It was outside the park and every day that I returned to that facility the spell was broken but by the mall atmosphere. In this charming motel I arrived to an adventurous crowd sitting in lawn chairs outside their rooms enjoying the sunset. In the morning charming cafe very reasonably priced and good quality food was next door....

"This place has always been “mysterious” to me as I have crossed tamiami trail many many times. So finally when I needed a place to stay that was near to Rookery Bay, and this one’s rates were the most economic, I jumped at the opportunity to check it out! The first thing I will note is that their “strict check in window” seems legit. The front desk was never manned; staff showed up at or near the check In window. He was very pleasant. "Very nice staff. Cash only was less than ideal but managed. Room was not in great condition. Clean but the TV didn’t work and the flood lights on the signage in front shined into the windows. Very accommodating folks and great people but not a modern operation by any stretch of the imagination. "
