"Had a lovely one night stay at this beautiful hotel which has lots of character. I paid for a larger sea view room which had been recently renovated and even had a four-poster bed which was a nice surprise. It was spotlessly clean. The communal areas are a little tired but I expected they might be given the level of investment it would take to update everywhere. Breakfast was buffet style and fairly basic but sufficient. Very friendly and helpful staff "

"When I came into the hotel and was given my room key, the first thing I noticed was the smell of dampness in the room. The carpet had burned marks all over it and stains and in places was missing carpet and built bar floor. The wallpaper was torn off the walls. The room was filthy dirty had not been cleaned and full of dust and dirt smoked disgusting so did the toilet and shower. "Comfortable beds, nice toiletries, good shower. The full breakfast had a good selection of choices:hot, cold, pastries,fruit, cereal, porridge and plenty of different teas and coffees."

"Great staff, clean and tidy room, good location with easy car parking. Great food including very good options for my coeliac wife. This is a quaint more traditional style of hotel with it seemed like only six rooms. You still get a room key attached to a fob rather than the key cards you tend to get nowadays and the flooring is a little sloped in places all adding to the charm. We had just a one night stop over but would be happy to return."

"First time I’ve never really been impressed with the staff. On arrival they didn’t even acknowledge our presence - both tapping away on their computers - until one finally acknowledged us and said the other one would check us in. After another while, she finally just said “surname”!! No smile, no greeting. Nothing. Apart from that, great hotel as always. Close to great restaurants and walking distance of town. "

"Yes except breakfast bar only opened at 8am at weekends/public holidays, hot water for tea could have been hotter - overall food good value for money."
