"The rooms at Novotel were spacious, modern, and comfortable. However, one issue significantly affected our stay—the hotel corridors had a persistent unpleasant smell, which seemed to come from the carpets. The odour was so strong at times that it made us feel nauseous. We hope the hotel addresses this, as the rooms themselves were otherwise very good.

"I was only staying for one night in order to check in for an early flight the following morning, so made limited use of facilities. Within those limits, an overnight stay and one evening meal, everything was very well done, good and attentive service, perfectly clean room, a surprisingly quiet room given the location. "Location, location, location! It's barely 2 blocks from Edinburgh Waverly Station, and you might even be able to get there directly (though I couldn't find it). An easy walk up and down Princes Street with lots of shopping and dining. The breakfast room is lovely, the servers were helpful and friendly, and the food was delicious. I stayed on a tour, and out of 6 hotels, Apex had some of my favorite toiletries. My kids also liked the pool, although it was 'too cold' for them.

"The room was tatty and the bathroom sink was really slow to drain. The breakfast was the only good thing about the stay, it was actually really good! Location was central but for the price, I thought the room was tired, carpet stained, sink not draining properly and shower water barely warm. Staff not very helpful and if you want to eat at the hotel restaurant you need a reservation in advance, so not very helpful. I wouldn't stay again."
