"I had high hopes for our stay, but unfortunately the rating does not fit the hotel.
When we went to check in there was no one to be found. No sign or anything. Tucked on the far side was a bell. When we went to ring it, we could see in a back room there were 5 employees sitting around a desk.
Initially, we were impressed with the inside of the hotel, beautiful wood carvings, spacious, but the more you looked around the less exciting it was. Old, terrible carpet coming up and frayed, and elevator we were afraid was going to stop working, a nasty moldy ice machine, a squeaky, uncomfortable mattress.
While the room overall looked clean and refreshed, I was still nervous. We chose to stay anyway because we had already paid and it was only 1 night. The tv though, was static, and cut in and out; the outlet for my phone charger was unreliable and honestly, with so much wrong, I hit a point that I didn’t even want to shower or try their complimentary breakfast. If this is what it looked like on the outside I wonder what it looked like behind the scenes in places we couldn’t see.
Hotel staff, once we were acknowledged, we kind and friendly, but that’s about the only thing this place had going for it.
We even had a balcony, but the smell outside was too terrible to even crack the door.
This place has potential, but needs some serious love and care to get there. "
