"The elevator had broken down, but these things happen. The ice machine on the third floor did not work. The door trim to the bathroom was coming loose from the wall. The paint on the ceiling of the shower was falling down. The hotel felt dated, but the room was clean and comfortable. There was no one at the front desk when we arrived to check in. We called back to some offices, but no answer. After 10-15 minutes, we called the hotel and someone answered. He said he would be right there....

"It’s a solid budget hotel. It’s not run down but it’s also not a resort either. Everything in the room worked as expected and the staff was quick to address the tv remote issue. A good solid place to sleep. Didn’t check out the breakfast, not a breakfast person."

"Close to the fairgrounds is the only thing it had going for it. Room was dank/musty smelling with holes punched in the wall. This is a $60 dollar a night hotel at best, not $190. Breakfast was a waffle, glazed donut, some bread or an apple. I would not stay here again. Really felt ripped off."

"I travel to So. Illinois annually to visit but this is my first stay at the Makanda Inn. It will not be my last. I had a very peaceful stay- after long days of family visit and running around with the grands, it was so nice to stay here where it was quiet and relaxing. Breakfast every morning was top notch and just the right portions."

"This is a very clean and nice apartment within a very close drive to the Kinkaid boat launch. Easy to locate and can fit a car with a boat in tow no problem. This spot was also much more quiet than the campground or RV spots nearby. They have a great porch and a grill and we didn’t bring something for it which made me sad. "

"They didn't have enough towels or rags in the room, had to take the 2 down that were in the room to get more. Plus it smelled like natural gas in the rooms. When I ask them about it they said it was because they fixed the pool and told us to just open the window. Plus they advertise free breakfast and they didn't have anything except for coffee out."
