"Originally placed in an unrenovated room that was quite dingy and in need of serious love, looks like it hadn’t been touched since the 80s. Paid to upgrade into a renovated room which was much nicer. But with the upgrade fee, the value was not as attractive.
Overall the renovated public areas are nice, especially the rooftop, but it’s a very large hotel and can get crowded (for example, long lines to check in and check out, with not many front desk staff even during peak hours). "

"I had a spacious room in good decorative condition with a direct view of Copacàbana beach. Strangely given the room size, wardrobe space was limited.The bathroom was also large and included an excellent shower. The breakfast buffet was superb. The roof top bar and pool was a welcome feature. The hotel sits at the southern end of Copacabana, so Ipanema is also within easy reach. Finally all the staff from the managers to the cleaners were welcoming and efficient. A difficult property to fault."

From the check in assistance by Julia at the front desk, to Gustavo at my check out, I had an amazing stay at Grand Hyatt for 4 days and I'd definitely be back here again. "I loved the rooms. They were very clean. The sink was stopped up but that was an easy fix. The staff were excellent even with the language barrier we had. Breakfast was just OK, but that FRESH PRESSED ORANGE JUICE, I’d fly 2 days back anytime just to have it again. We had a beach view room and it was just an amazing feeling to wake up to that astonishing view every morning."
