I booked a stay at Casitas Coral Ridge due to the glowing comments here on Expedia, so I just wanted to give anyone reading this an honest review. If you have allergies or are sensitive to bad odors, I recommend staying somewhere else.
I'll start off by saying that there were some positives to this motel. It's within walking distance to many restaurants and shops, including the Mai Kai, which was our reason for the visit. The beach is a longer walk, but totally doable. Also, the courtyard is very nice.
That said, this is not a "boutique hotel". It's a motel that was rennovated at some point. Our room was very cramped depsite it being decribed as a "studio". Yes, there was a tiny kitchenette and hotplate, but cooking a meal in the room would be difficult.
Also, the bathroom ceiling was covered in patches of black mold. I wish I could share pictures here. It was bad. Additonally, after the first night, we noticed that the bathrom smelled like sewage, so yeah, there are definitely some issues with the plumbing.
Other issue include an AC that did not maintain a consistent temporature, an old TV with a terrible picture, and floors that always felt damp.
For the price (around $650 for 3 nights), I didn't expect luxury, but I did expect it to be clean and smell good. These are not huge asks.
