Upon arrival we were greeted with much enthusiasm by the valet staff, who eventually let us know that we needed to pay $40 per night for valet parking; no other option. There were scary stories about being towed or wheel-locked if we parked at the Mc Donalds etc…. I mentioned that this was a surprise fee, and they said to take it up with the front desk. The front desk staff were very friendly but informed us that we needed to pay for parking; hotel policy. After some vocal complaining on my part, they eventually mentioned that we could park for free in a city parking garage across the street. We did that. Again, everyone was very friendly, but the situation seemed scammy to us. The staff were just following policy, but the policy seemed like an intentional orchestrated mini-extortion.
Also, a worker barged into our room after we were in the room for about 30 minutes (by mistake). There was also a small pile of old access card holders on our one shelf. These oversights were no big deal to us though.
We booked this hotel, partly for access to the rooftop pool for my daughter. She was not able to access the pool for most of our stay since it was closed for a private event.
