"Like a growing number of people in our society, yet ignored by so many accommodations, I am highly allergic to scented products: laundry products, cleaning products and room fresheners. I generally request none be used when making reservations and thought I had done so with this one, but I may not have. I was taken aback upon entering this room because of its smell. My wife, who is not as sensitive as I am, felt the same. But it didn't smell like a scented product. I'm not sure what the hotel used, but it set my allergies off, and I suffered with that for several days after. I have a greater concern with this one, though. The smell was more reminiscent of a bathroom odor, yet the bathroom appeared to be clean. So my thought led me to believe the room, itself, was just not very clean - but I do not know. In the morning, however, while taking a shower I believe I discovered the source. I am a retired architect and building inspector. My job required me to travel often. One of the things I became very accustomed to doing is that when I travel and I find a shower with one of those drain pans that have become very popular because they are so sleek and modern looking, I tend to lift it up to see if the actual drain beneath it is being properly cleaned. In this case - it was not. It was quite gross under there and the drain itself appeared to have collected human waste that should have been properly cleaned. Housekeeping has not been properly trained."

We checked in late, and the check in clerk very graciously changed our room because he had just found out the people in the room beside our original room were quite loud. I appreciated this!
