"The room was very small even for an Inn. We expected to stay in one of the rooms in the main building that were shown on the website. We were put in another building and a smaller room. We stayed 2 nights and no maid service."

"The staff were so pleasant to talk to and since my wife and I were not able to climb stairs, we were upgraded to a first floor room. The breakfast served every day was so delicious and ready when we were. Everything we needed was taken care of by wonderful people. Also all the attractions are within walking distance since the hotel is located downtown. I highly recommend the Melville House and we will be staying there again."

"Great location and nice old colonial style home, however upkeep of the Inn needs some work. A lot of pealing paint and loose floor boards. The Inn Keepers office looks like a trash pile through the windows. There was confusion with our check-in, provided wrong room. Thanks to the staff who noticed the error early. Rooms are basic, be sure to get a king bed room. The others, such as top floor, are extremely small. Fireplace was not operable in our room. TVs are haphazardly mounted, wires...

"So…the site itself is in a gorgeous location so if the weather is good you will want to sit outside. The property is an older building and we expected and were fine with that. They seem to want to be a venue space more than a hotel- we knew there might be an event but the thumping music from the DJ travels. There was zero food or beverage available until breakfast- to the point where you cannot even get a soda. The A/C is controlled at the front desk and we’re assuming it was down low because of...
