We are disappointed and completely disagree with your review. We feel that giving us a 1 is an insult.To address some of your points, the rooms are kept cool as not everyone likes a hot room, it is easier to heat up than cool down. Every room and en-suite has its own radiator with its own control on it. If you could not turn up the radiator or there was still no heat when you did you could have come and talked to anyone of our friendly staff who would have helped you. There are also blankets in each room for the beds in case you still feel cold.There will always be an element of noise when you book above a pub but we are usually closed by 11pm. If you want to stay somewhere that is completely quiet we suggest you book a quiet B&B, any pub will have some bar noise.The evening meal choice is not limited. There are 9 choices on the menu and 7 choices on the specials board. There is a mixture of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options ranging from 9.50 to 13.50. We serve good quality pub grub.At no point during your stay did you bring any of your issues to a member a staff so they could help sort things out for you.

We are sorry that you did not get the message sent via Expedia informing you that the pub itself is closed on a Monday. Often when working for a company the messages that we send do not get through to the worker. The rooms are all kept on a low radiator heat as people like different levels of heat in their rooms and this gives them the choice to turn it up as you did. We also keep them on low due to present energy costs and guest do not always turn up, so we would not wish to waste heat if someone is not going to arrive.Re ‘’To be told you will have to find somewhere else to eat’’ you were given information and directions to x2 pubs that served food on a Monday evening, also you were directed to a booklet in the room that had a few more pubs all within a 4 mile drive.

However we are glad you felt welcome and you dog was very welcome too. We are sorry that you felt the bed needs a new mattress as this one is not very old at all. We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. Some of our rooms are on the smaller side but this is clearly shown in the photos on the site that you would have booked on. Our 1720 old building is wonky, quirky, has low ceinings, beams and does have uneven floors. We wouldn't have it any other way. It would spoil the age and character of the building to make everything flat and square. We think that maybe chain hotels are more to your liking and agree that you should go back to them.

Thank you for your review. Unfortunately we are unable to to make any changes about being on the main road. There will always be some noise from the pub but at the moment we do not close as late as we used to so the noise ends at a reasonable hour.
