"Beautiful old hotel with great staff and great location. Biggest downside and reason I probably won’t return is the hotel & rooms are in need of a massive upgrade/ modernization. The bathrooms are ridiculously small & outdated and the rooms need a major refresh. Love the old hotel details such as stationery in the room, but with so many other options in Charleston, we sadly won’t return to this historically important hotel. Please make "
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Charleston Riverview
2/10 Terrible
"Make sure you book on the Marina side of the building or you can up in a room by a dumpster with horrible highway noise all night…this was a last minute booking only because we arrived early to the city and our resort was sold out for the night. When I went to get ice I was greeted by a pit bull running up to greet me (thankfully he was friendly) might want to tell staff to inform guests with dogs about using leashes on site!! The marina was nice, restaurant at the end of the block had cheap eats with a great view…if your looking for the very basic with easy access to the city then this might work for you!!"
The Beach Club at Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina
10/10 Excellent
"Love this resort. Water Taxi was closed during our stay. I loved the shuttle, pools and restaurants. It was a nice visit from Alaska. I personally wished that laundry was also at the resort and marina. The gym was a decent size. The refillable water jug at the gym had to be refilled frequently during our stay. I scored the amenities a 4 due to requesting the staff to put another water jug in the gym(seemed like it was just an 2 gallon jug) and laundry on the marina. "
Embassy Suites by Hilton Charleston Historic District
10/10 Excellent
"Stay there for a girls trip and it was just perfect. The building itself is so gorgeous in historic next to a beautiful park with a lot of open grass area where locals spend some time and sun bathe. The hotel offers one breakfast daily snack, snacks, and happy hour which is amazing. The staff were always friendly and attentive. Had a wonderful experience. "
