"The place was very beautiful, peaceful and comfy. Didn’t really get to explore the property much. But my husband and I would definitely stay there again. "

"The location with the views of the ocean are amazing along with the pool and hot tub. You have a 1 hour window to check in and if you miss it you have to be there at 8am the next morning. If you want an early start you need to wait until 8."
"This property is midway between Volcano and Kona off of Rt 11. It has beautiful grounds and the owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. It’s fairly remote so you must drive to whatever you need. The room was spacious and clean. There’s no air conditioning and it was uncomfortably humid in the room. The shower is very narrow and the bathroom is up 3 steps in the room. Morning coffee didn’t offer much in terms of milk or cream, just flavored containers of half/half. However, there’s a great bakery in town for espresso coffee and treats."
"Our stay at Gingerhill Farm Retreat was a unique and grounding experience. We stayed in the Bamboo cabin with an outdoor kitchen, shower, and sink, all supplied with propane and warm water, along with a clean compost toilet. The space was designed as an open lanai, allowing for natural cross-ventilation. We never needed the fan.
The cabin was surrounded by lush vegetation, with the sounds of the jungle creating a vivid atmosphere at night and in the early morning. The common areas include a terrace overlooking the ocean beyond the tree line, offering beautiful sunset views.
The staff was attentive and supportive throughout our stay. We also had the honor of meeting the owner, Ms. Mayumi Oda, often referred to as the “Matisse of Japan,” whose vision promotes healthy living and environmental awareness.
This experience offered a rare balance between natural living and everyday comfort. It felt less like a stay and more like an immersion into a different way of being."
"This B&B was the best part of my stay on the Big Island. It really felt like you were warmly invited to someone’s home. Hannah, the innkeeper, is a true gem of a human being and brings a special peace and loveliness to the space.
When one of my excursions got unexpectedly canceled, I decided to have a lazy day at the property: soaked in the hot tub, took a long shower in the outdoor lava shower, and read on the quiet and peaceful lanai that had a fantastic view overlooking the coastline, had several slices of delicious cake that was offered as part of the afternoon snack. I would absolutely come back."
"Breakfast was wonderful! Don’t be in a hurry! I was leary when I arrived in the dark…but fell in love with the place in the daylight! It was a great adventure! No glass windows…only screens. The frogs were loud…but slept so good! If you like noise machines, you will love it! The bedroom had a fan if needed. They had beach equipment to borrow if wanted. A wonderful snorkeling spot was next to the National Park…just a few miles from the Dragonfly Ranch. The ocean view was amazing! Barbara (and her staff) was a great hostess! "
"A very homey and hospitable BnB. We had a very comfortable room with a big lanai and an ocean view over the gardens.
The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. The farm animals, birds and the owners dogs were gentle company.
The property is very private but on the main belt road and convenient to both sides of the island.
Plenty of good local restaurants, shops, markets and historic sites and beaches."
"An absolutely beautiful home -- clean and spacious with beautiful views. Very nice hosts with great knowledge of the area and its history. Breakfast was fabulous and plentiful. We would definitely stay again."
"Our stay was incredible. Gigi made us feel like family and the property was gorgeous. Home cooked breakfast each morning made with care and love. She took special care of my diabetic husband, making him special options. We will be back!"
