"Stayed at The Waterfront for a conference in June. The staff were LOVELY - very upbeat, welcoming and helpful. The rooms are quite pretty and the beds are comfortable. The floor of my room had some stray dirt and wrappers, likely just missed during house cleaning (everything else, including the sheets and bathroom, was very clean), which is what led to the 3/5 star cleanliness rating. "I would not recommend this property. It is centrally located, but the room is barely adequate and reminds me of a very cheap hotel but not at a cheap hotel price. Main problem was rooms have no Air Conditioning so you have to open a window to get any airflow in the room. That by itself is not an issue but the hotel backs up to a major roadway into Sitka and the traffic all night prevented a good night rest. "There was a landslide on the only road into Skagway , it was blocked could not get in . Called the hotel after we finally found a number left a message with the owner, emailed the owner several times never got a phone call back never got a email back but got charged for our two nights, heard from several other people staying at other hotels in town all of them got calls from hotel staff informing them of the landslide and worked with them on thier reservations, I would highly recommend staying...
