"This is a beautifully maintained building with so much character and personalized love put into it; we loved our stay! It is slightly off the “path” of larger hotels, making it perfect for us. It is so close to town, we easily popped over a walking bridge for dinner and then found the best cafe for breakfast. The room is such a great use of space fitting our family of four, with two teens, nicely into one room with enough space and amenities to meet our needs. The bathroom is so cute and...

"We enjoyed our stay! Breakfast ($) was good and filling for everyone. The room was spacious, and offered sleeping space plus a desk to work while away. Overall very lovely, although a staff member entered our room early in the morning, while we were sleeping on the last day, waking us up. That was not ok."

"Location was great and the room was quiet. It has an elevator which we appreciated and a refrigerator which we put to good use. I did think the room would be bigger. It seems the picture for a standard room was for a different room not the standard room so there was some misdirection there in advertising. The staff was extremely helpful. They get 5 stars."

"Great central location just a view minutes (via the Market Brae steps) to the High Street and railway station. I had no direct interaction with the proprietor or staff. Nevertheless the guest house was reasonably homely, clean and well maintained. A good budget choice."

"I really want to give the place five stars but there are several issues the we encountered during our stay. 1. There is no customer service. You can't call the front we have to walk there from another building. No conditioner in the bathrooms. 2. The only luxury in the place is the space. It's spacious but not luxurious. There's a very steep stairs to the upper room 3. There was construction on the road. The windows don't seal and my two kids had to breathe asphalt fumes and we had to hear...

"Nice clean hotel, and well maintained grounds, but a bit unimaginative with breakfast options. Not much beyond the fry-up options. Being an old building it was also a bit noisy with squeaky floorboards and creaky stairs."

"The hotel is very pretty and well situated in town right on the river. Our rooms were as described however; the ventilation in the room was insufficient. We visited in July and even with the fan on, windows open, the room was very warm and stuffy. We ordered drinks at the bar and service was rather slow (even while the bar was not full of patrons). Service at the front desk and around the property were otherwise very friendly and helpful."

"Johnathan was a huge help with many things. The property is 300 years old, so that needs to be kept in mind when booking. It is also up a pretty steep hill (we felt stronger by the end of our stay). The only downfall was the lack of air conditioning during the last UK heat wave. This was a charming stay that we would do again."

"I left blood pressure medication that I need for the remainder of 5 weeks in Europe. This medication is not available in Poland. I contacted hotel several times and no one contacted me back… just unbelievable how non-concerned hotel can be when they have your money. Another issue; right outside my window was a full floor of beer garden; noise and partying was everyday until midnight. I"
