The Koko Hotel was our favorite place to stay in Japan. The room was styled nicely and clean. It was the perfect location in Kumamoto - shopping and food were in the complex downstairs. Kumamoto Castle was a very short walk. The hotel buffett was amazing and reasonably priced.

This hotel was a tram ride from JR Kumamoto station and located inside the Sakuramachi shopping mall. Fairly new, but very clean and generous with provision of amenities. Room was small though but has a nice view of the castle.

We had a nice stay at Koko hotel. The hotel is conveniently located to transit access and on top of a mall. Walking distance to the castle. Lots of food options and shopping. The room was spacious and quiet. We did not spend much time in the room as we used Kumamoto as a home base for day trips. We would stay here again and recommend to others

Excellence location on top of shopping mall and long distance bus station. Room in good condition . Main shopping area is just across the street Hotel reception on top floor of building, which is rather unusual. Entrance to hotel elevator is on 2nd floor of shopping mall, which need some finding for the first time

Spent 9 nights during golden week 2025. Hotel is located on top of a shopping mall and a 3min walk to the main shopping arcade. Tram lines are 3 min walk. Bus terminal is underneath the hotel. Reception is on 14th floor, with hotel rooms located on floors 5-13. No room service. Staff are helpful. Many restaurants in short walking distance.

Excellent location at the bus station. Walkable to Kumamoto castle; we could actually see it from our room! As with other Japanese hotels, toiletries were provided but this hotel went the extra mile - there were bath salts as well as hair serum capsules. So thoughtful!

Great location and services.

Great location and service. We arrived early and was able to leave our luggages at the reception area until the check-in time. The hotel is right next to canal city so it's very convenient for shopping. The only negative thing I would say about this hotel is the cigarette smell at the reception area. You can smell it straight away after walking into the hotel. Instead of having the smoking room near the reception area, maybe they can try to relocate their smoking room to somewhere else?
