"Beautiful breakfast at this very old hotel built in 1716. It was like walking back in history. Narrow staircases. Clean rooms. Staff were all very nice! "

"Room needs repairs (hole in wall) and furniture needs to be updated. There was no bathmat in the bathroom. Overall poor quality room for the price. There was ample parking at no additional cost. "

"I would have given more stars but the shower was cold/lukewarm, and the thermostat didn’t really work."

"The property is in need of updating. Our room the a/c ran cool never cold nor would it shut off the vents were broken out of it. The furniture was worn, the refrigerator was barely cold, the bathroom no stopper in the sink the was outdated lacking caulk around it and the caulk around the tub was molded."

"The lady who answered the phone was hilarious! Not in a good way. Funny though. She acknowledged me then began to converse with another employee about how much she was working. Cursing and all. After about 30 seconds of that she came back to me and helped me out. Sort of. Just wanted to add a night but she told me I had to go through Expedia, which was fine but I see as strange since I wanted to just add a night. I decided NOT to go here based in the call. Cost me $107 but you get what you pay...

"The only okay I gave was for the maintenance of the property, this was due to the outside of the property where the parking lot could use an update & there was some water problem where trucks were parked, so hopefully they were trying to address the issue, but giant puddles of what smelled like sewage."

"The photos of this property make it appear SIGNIFICANTLY nicer than it actually is. In reality, this place is VERY run down, dilapidated, and disgusting. We made a pit stop here for the night on our drive back to Maine from Myrtle Beach and immediately regretted it as soon as we got to our room. This place has total boarding house vibes. There are clearly a lot of very questionable people who live here full-time. The entire place wreaked of cigarette smoke and it was VERY noisy (music...

"No offense meant, but the Temperance House could really use a refresh. Carpets appear not to have been changed in 50 years. It's in a great location and could be lovely boutique hotel, but it very much needs to upgrade."

"It seemed haunted and abandoned. Great location, excellent parking. But no staff present during the entirety of my stay. Hot water was tepid water. The building is so old, the floors slope and the stairs have a weird pitch; it wouldn't be safe for an older person with balance or mobility issues."
