"Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. Large room with comfortable bed. En-suite included bath (preferred by wife), while the shower, above the bath, worked pretty well. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good full Welsh breakfast, lighter options also available. Good varied dinner menu (we ate there three times). The dog was made as welcome as we were, and we hope to return."

For our stay, the air conditioning in the room was a bonus, as it was during a very hot spell. We didn't watch the TV, but it looked to have everything you might need on there. "Beautiful hotel, great location, immaculate and picturesque gardens. Rooms well decorated, clean, really can't complain about the aesthetics. Staff attentive. Breakfast choice very good and delicious. Our only complaint was the noise in the beer garden. The weather was really good, and so, attracted people (guests & non guests) to the beer garden. "Nice basic place to stay. It's a pity there is no vending machines for snacks and drinks or even ice. It was quiet during the night. Shower was very good. I stayed when we were having a heatwave so the room was extremely warm day and night. The fan provided did help thank you"

We had to cut our stay shorts it was just too hot and we could not sleep in the room. Very stuffy fan just circulated hot air. "The room was clean but a few issues I found brown marks on the door frame of the bathroom maybe make up ? Also on the table there was stain drink cup marking and the shower glass has all marks on it there was cobwebs around lamps and bedside lampshades was dusty dirty and marked and one lamp didn’t work. "Overall pretty great, but definitely a few negatives. Cleanliness was not 100%, by a long shot. Room was incredibly hot, oh so unbearably hot. We opened the sliding door as it was cool outside, but then flooded our room with bugs (100's of them). Room was close to the "lake", aka still water pond. Hence all of the bugs. If you are going to book this hotel, definitely book away from the pond or do not come in the hotter summer months. Staff were awesome, exceptionally amazing."

"We had a great one night stay at Berwick Lodge on a a Monday to celebrate a birthday. The sun shone and the Housemartins flew happily around whilst we sat on the terrace having a cocktail. The à la carte menu was fantastic - well worth the cost and breakfast was very tasty. Will definitely stay again in one of the other fantastic looking rooms."

"Strikingly looking hotel. Unfortunately on entering reception, we were greeted with a dirty carpet, which carries on into the bar area with lots of stains. Our room was up 2 flights of stairs, which I wasn't aware of when I booked. Therefore, in this heatwave, the room was an oven. There was a desk fan - 'thank goodness'. Pleased with the room, the layout and amenities. Curtains need seeing to, useless and need blackouts! All the staff were pleasant and hard working. Did not expect a buffet...
