The Parkgate Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"From the moment I was greeted by front of house staff at check in on Sunday until today when I sadly had to leave and come home 😊, I couldn’t fault any member of staff. Everyone was professional yet friendly, nothing too much trouble. I arrived before check in time and they were happy to look after my suitcase so that I didn’t have to drag it through Cardiff with me then took it straight to my room so it was there when I returned. The room I had was spotless as usual, with lovely toiletries, robe, etc. and I even had a room with a view this time of The stadium and tip of the Castle in the distance. The hotel itself is a beautiful building and feels special. This time I only had breakfast food wise while there and was good quality, and a great selection. I also had a wonderful massage at the spa and would highly recommend my spa therapist Moitshepi who was gently spoken, friendly and performed a brilliant, relaxing full body massage. I basically didn’t want to leave! Thank you everyone at The Parkgate Spa, can’t wait to come back!"

"So close but quiet at night to city center castle , river and more and very close to train and bus station. Compact but efficient , would skip the breakfast as a Weatherspoon is across the street w better value. Engaged staff even threaded a needle for me to put on a button."

"The room was clean and comfortable. Good sized bathroom with bath and shower. Pleasant, helpful staff. Free parking was a bonus. The restaurant was a nice place to eat, but vegetarian menu is too limited. There was only one vegetarian main on the menu. As we were staying for 2 nights, we needed to go somewhere else to eat on the second night."

"We had a small suite which was amazing, really comfortable and clean, just a small niggle here the Air Con was not working properly so it was very hot at night. Also in the part of the building where we were only one of the two lifts was working which meant waiting around a long time. We had breakfast in the downstairs dining room, which was adequate. The two staff down there struggled to keep up and they ran out of orange juice glasses, scrambled egg and a couple of other items. I think particularly on Sunday they should have an extra person it was certainly busy enough. The food here was not the best but adequate for a good walk around Bristol. The hotel was very clean and I would definitely stay there again."

"The Angel has a convenient location for exploring Cardiff. It feels like stepping into the opulence of yesteryear. The room itself was well appointed, albeit small. I booked a single room, and was surprised to have a double bed. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was prepared for the heat wave with a fan already placed in the room upon my arrival."
