"We are a family of 5 with 3 kids under 12. We visited in March and it was very quiet/serene. Portovella has a beautiful view of the Douro. Riverside walk is just several steps down a hill. Photos don’t do it justice because it is so breathtaking in person. The comfort suite was the perfect size with 2 bathroom ensuites and a powder room. View from the suite was incredible. Just plan ahead if you’re staying on a Sunday as many restaurants were closed but we found a gem in Cinfaes - Sabores e...

Please note that the only way to get there is by car and the most convenient option is to take advantage of the dinner offered. It should be noted that there is an opportunity to taste very good local wine on site."

The room was very clean and overlooked the iconic river, where you can feel the cool breeze and hear the seagulls and faraway live music. "I would have given them a five but the picture showed a riverfront room and actually it was a street front room.. The streets are very narrow and loud.. We were not in the room very much other than to sleep so we made the best of it.. no elevator but they do have a lift for luggage which was nice.. The location was perfect right in the historic district, a half of block from the River the duro River.. another reason I did not give a five star was the Wi-Fi was not working in the TV was a archaic...
