"Cons
1. Hairdryer was jammed when we checked in & the head had to be replaced as it was inoperable due to hair jammed into the head of the hairdryer.
2. The website says air-conditioned rooms but staff informed they are air cooled. The first night was very sweaty & uncomfortable to get sleep. Staff asked us to open the window for ventilation. This wasn't an option as this overlooks a highway & lot of traffic noise.
3. The hotel is located in Gais & requires Bolt & Uber for any Porto related...

"Absolutely incredible stay. The property is beautifully designed. Being just outside of Porto brings tranquility and peace. It felt like another world. Staff went above and beyond. We actually got engaged by the gazebo, where the staff set up a beautiful picnic for us to make the moment even more special. They were so patient and helpful communicating through with WhatsApp.
On top of everything, the spa and restaurant are top-tier. This is a must stay if you are in Porto. I will forever...

"This was a last minute stay for us as our plans changed due to a forest fire in the Douro valley. The hotel room was very clean but unfortunately the shower didn’t work when we arrived, the fault was quickly fixed when we reported it to reception although I had to go downstairs for this as the room phone didn’t work. Breakfast was ok, it was unlabelled which made it much more difficult for me to find items to suit my dairy intolerance and I wasn’t confident in the quality of staff advice when I...

"This is our second time back to the Palacio do Freixo, and it is the most fantastic and elegant place. The hotel and grounds are palatial, but the staff and service is the key to the elegance of our stay and experience there. I’m so regretful that I cannot recall the name of the man at the front desk who checked us in, but he was so extraordinarily helpful and professional, getting us reservations for a river cruise. We have the highest recommendations for the hotel, and our stay was...
