We stayed for 3 nights, the hotel overall was very nice, clean, and modern. The experience was ruined at check out when one of the staff, Farid, overcharged us for the city tax. We only noticed later when we returned for our luggage and the entire team denied the overcharge, claiming that their system showed we paid what was owed and no more. It was not until Farid, who had finished his shift and was about to leave the hotel, emerged that he admitted the overcharge. He only spoke to us in Arabic so that his co-workers would not understand and took out the money from his own pocket, claiming he was going to leave it inside our luggage for us to find later when we collected it.
It was only then that the rest of staff, who were shocked and speechless, believed our account and realized that he attempted to pocket the overcharge for himself, a practice that unfortunately may have taken place with other customers.
Normally I do not leave reviews and would prefer to view this as an honest mistake, however, Farid’s own coworkers vehemently denied the possibility of an honest mistake prior to his admission because the system clearly shows the amount due and that it was impossible he could give any different number.
As a result of this experience, we were also concerned about the contents of our luggage as it destroyed any trust we had in the staff. Exercise caution.
