"We just needed a place for the night so wasn’t wanting much; however, the app reviews were skewed. Bathrooms moldy. Nonsmoking room filled with smoke smell. Continental breakfast was bread/toast, yogurt, packaged donuts, or cereal. We went to a great breakfast place down the street. "
"We enjoyed our stay at the Highlander Mountain Home -spending our 25th anniversary there. We hope to return soon. Sarah was delightful and attentive. She provided answers to all of our questions. We had enjoyable conversations with the restaurant manager (and learned of her family’s long history in the community) as well as the staff members - Maggie, Abbie and Graham. The location was perfectly situated in the middle of town. Highlands is a wonderful community with gorgeous nature surrounding it."
"I thought things were fine, my wife didn't. The walls are thin, we could hear neighbors talking pretty easily in the room. My wife asked for tea and the desk lady told her she'd sell her a bag, they didn't put tea bags in the rooms until later in the season. The wood fire in the common area was nice. We didn't really use the balcony, it was OK I guess. There were odd noises during the night."
"Do not stay with this desert chicken. We got in late night after working an ice storm. He gave a room with a leaking roof so bad there was inches of water in the bathroom floor. Then room smelt like dog piss an he completely rude to us a bunch lineman trying to restore power to the community. He also never returned the money. Do not support this guy what so ever!"
"This was the ideal staycation of all staycation. I felt the slightest twinge of guilt having the place all to ourselves on the weekend before it all gets incredibly busy, but I got over that real quick. Sorry, not sorry, we lucked out. This was dreamy from decorations to decor to ambience:
1. Gorgeous inside & out
2. The most impressive little touches of love and care and hospitality all over the place, too many to count, you'll have to go see for yourself.
3. Close to outdoor adventure, not to mention a trail on property and our room overlooking a waterfall mere steps away.
4. Provisions for smores, snacks left out for us, the cleanest rooms ever.
5. And a book with a bunch of local things to do which were plenty, including G.O.A.T & Lady Bug Landing;) so precious & fun!
The staff was very conscientious and helpful, most definitely coming back!"
