"It was an excellent room for a good price, on the periphery of downtown Bordeaux so it was accessible but still removed enough from the bustle of downtown to have a good night’s sleep. "
"Hotel is slightly outside the city, but if you don’t mind grabbing a cab or walking 30-40 min, it’s perfect. Property is in great condition, breakfast was good, and spa/gym was nice. Good value for money. "
"Tonight I stayed at JOST Hôtel Bordeaux Centre Gare Saint Jean in Bordeaux, which cost £80 per night.
Everything seemed fine when I first arrived, but I was extremely disappointed once I checked into the room. The room design felt like a small box — very cramped and stuffy.
One thing that really surprised me was that the sink was placed right next to the bed, which made the space feel more like a compact cabin than a comfortable hotel room.
The bathroom had a transparent glass door, which meant there was almost no privacy. This design might be suitable for young couples who are comfortable with that setup, but it’s not ideal if you are travelling with friends or simply prefer more privacy.
There was also no place to hang clothes in the bathroom. After showering, you either have to leave your clothes on the sink outside the bathroom or on the bed. That means you may have to step out of the shower and walk outside to get dressed, which felt quite awkward.
Overall, the layout and practicality of the room did not work well for me. Unfortunately, this is not a hotel I would choose to stay at again.
One positive surprise was the breakfast the next morning. It was actually very good, with a nice selection and much better than I expected. The breakfast experience was definitely the highlight of my stay.
