Do not miss galaxy cave. No tourist but an extreme cool cave with about 500 meters in water. Best hidden gem.

Ninh Binh is well located only a short drive to the limestone rocks/forest areas and about 2.30 hours by bus to Hanoi Airport.The lake area in the city centre is delightful at night!

Tam Coc is closer to the tourist stuff you are likely in town for, Ninh Binh seemed swell enough... though our stay was during Tet so was largely closed.
