"My wife and I loved our time at this property. It has a very cute garden where we would sit and have tea. We also enjoyed the art display in the living room, which was all made by the host’s mother. "I wanted a quiet house near Kyoto Station to write and relax, and this was the perfect choice. It's in a residential area, so there's no street traffic. The bathroom is fantastic, with a great soaking tub that overlooks the maple tree. It's also conveniently located near Aeon Mall, making it easy to bring groceries home. I had everything I needed, and the hotel was very responsive to communication. The only thing I could think of adding might be a bicycle. I hope to stay there again soon!"

"We really enjoyed staying in a real house in a real neighborhood for our trip to Kyoto. There was plenty of room for our small family, and we felt we had a more authentic visit to this beautiful city. A couple things to note for those who read reviews is that the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and narrow, and I worried for my husband navigating them in the dark at night. "Comfortable, well-located house in a quiet residential alley. The house was quite cold when I arrived, and it took some time to heat up. The place doesn’t get much sunlight. Cool to stay in a machiya. Stairs are narrow and more like a ladder, but easily navigable for younger and smaller bodies. For the price there are more comfortable and equally well situated places around. "
