"Crystal Beach has many great points to note: It's on the quiet end of the boardwalk. It's steps from the beach. The rooms are clean. Beds are relatively comfortable. Pillows are great. A/C works well. Rooms in the "Boardwalk Building" have kitchenettes with small kitchen sinks, coffee maker, microwave, hip-height fridge and a counter top (no stove top). Ice machines work. The property has two pools, a gym, and a poolside bar. What they don't tell you: There is now an (approximately) $12/day parking fee that's not posted on 3rd party vendor sites. Unlike some of the other hotels with kitchenettes, there are no dishes, glasses, or flatware in any of the cupboards, so you'll have to bring your own. It's not a big deal, but just know that up front. When they say "City view," you could actually be looking at the side of the next building or the parking garage, not the bay. (We spent the whole day on the beach, so we didn't care.) No safes are provided in the rooms. Finally, shortly after check in, we had an issue with our toilet not working. Although they worked on it, the problem returned later that night. I called the front desk, but by then, maintenance had gone home. I asked for a new room. "We'll work on that." We went to bed. I awoke at 4:30 am and had to walk across a parking lot to use the poolside restroom. Finally at 5:00 a.m. we moved to a smaller but nicer room. Supposedly no amt. of refund because we used a 3rd party vendor. I would however still stay here again."

"We loved the ocean view rooms! Large rooms, with refrigerators, kitchen, toaster, & dishwasher. We didn’t need to travel to eat, everything was right there. Large balcony to sit on and watch the sunrises. The area was great, walking distance to the Boardwalk, pools, beaches, restaurants, and souvenir shops. Lifeguards on duty. The staff was there every day to clean our rooms."

"Unexpectedly nicer than I anticipated. I hadn't stayed in a Howard Johnsons in decades as the brand always reminded of the original.motel days. This property, located right on the Boardwalk and beach with great views of the ocean did not disappoint. The rooms were large, clean, modern and quiet. The location was convenient to bike rentals and beach riding toys. I visit OC often during the early and late season when rates are lower. However, this trip I could not find a good rate at my normal favs so J gave Hojo a shot. The price was great consistent with amenities, including pool, hot tub and a restaurant on the property. I would definitely consider staying again."

"It’s a good hotel for the money you pay. We mostly are out and about so what we use the room for is just sleeping, and it’s fine for that. If you’re not an early riser you will probably be woken up by people moving around once it hits about 9am but again, that doesn’t bother us when we stay. The pool is always really great here, and it is clean. The location is also amazing (walking distance to mini golf, fish tales restaurant, and holiday inns outdoor pool bar)"

"Overall good experience. Hotel was clean and location was perfect. Steps away from the beach. Staff were great! Parking lot across the street is very tight but they do have another lot that’s barely used, a block away rather than paying for premium. I’ll book this hotel every time I’m in Ocean City!"
