"We enjoyed our stay at the Lakeside Motor Lodge, at the very tip of the Michigan thumb. We were on the 1st floor and there was a picnic table right outside our room. This is an an advantage not offered by very many overnight stays. We could sit outside, play some Phase 10, on the table and enjoy the cool breezes.
When we check in we often ask where a good place to eat is. Bird Creek Farm was recommended. We took that recommendation and ate outside on a very nice back porch, which was obviously a local favorite place to eat. Food was really good, quickly served by a very efficient young waitress.
This stay was perfect. The bed was comfortable, the room was very clean and well kept. A bonus of our stay was putting our feet in, well, I'm not sure if it was the Saginaw Bay or Lake Huron, but once the numbness from the cold water set in, it was very pleasant to be able to stand and talk for a few minutes. I would recommend the Lakeside Motor Lodge to anyone looking for a pleasant place to when visiting Port Austin, and I would highly recommend visiting Port Austin, at the tip of the thumb in Michigan."
