"Check‑in was a genuinely pleasant experience thanks to Gloria. She was kind, friendly, professional, and helpful. However, being handed off to Alexis for the timeshare sales pitch immediately afterward felt uncomfortable and pressured. After a long travel day with little sleep, needing to eat, get my bearings, and meet up with my family, I did not appreciate having to decline a presentation when all I wanted was to settle in. I understand she was doing her job, but it soured the beginning of my stay to have to repeatedly and politely explain that I was too travel‑weary—and needed to coordinate plans with my travel companions—to commit to what she was asking.
This same situation occurred when my mother and I checked into a Wyndham property in Kapa‘a in 2023, so it seems worth mentioning as part of my overall experience.
The room itself was clean and adequate. I spent most of my time out exploring, so I didn’t use many amenities, but the pool was nice. The jacuzzi, however, was not hot and appears to need maintenance. I enjoyed the hammock, and it was fun hearing other guests sing karaoke in the evenings. Reserved parking closer to each guest’s room would be a meaningful improvement.
Overall, it’s a quiet, clean, centrally located property with lovely grounds and friendly employees."
"The property is beautiful but the pool was cold. I don’t know why they don’t heat it. The water at the beach is almost completely brown from the river water that flows in next to it. And it rained every day we were there. Most of the rain isn’t bad. One day it rained hard and we all had to leave the pool and go inside. The disc golf course wasn’t usable because I was told they don’t maintain it. My daughter wanted to drop in the kids club for a hour but that’s only possible two days a week. The gelato and shaved ice shop was closed for renovations (in July really?!?!).
The staff was friendly. My son loved the soccer camp. The food was good and the grounds were beautiful, but I won’t be going back."
"We had the absolute best stay at the Koa Kea. We loved how the resort is on the smaller side, and you can easily walk out of your room and to the pool, beach, or to some nearby businesses (little fish, puka dog, surf shop..). The staff was super friendly and accommodating as well. I also loved being greeted with real leis, chocolate for our honeymoon, and wine in the room when we arrived! The pool bar had some yummy food, and good drinks. The sunrise yoga was fantastic as well. We stayed here for our honeymoon and actually preferred it to the first half of our trip, when we stayed at Hotel 1 Hanalei. Again, we loved how small and intimate Koa Kea felt, and it had a calm, relaxing vibe with mostly adults staying at the property. We already can't wait to come back again for an anniversary in the future."
