"I wanted a do nothing holiday. This was a brilliant choice, quiet, pool and lagoon was perfect, the local restraunts and cafe handy, just very insistant on reservations. With bicycle, scooter and car hire available getting out and about was easy. Wasnt prepared for the self catering option at the Retreat and the local stores provided options for dining in. Would stay again, just with better insect repellant. "

The location is hard to beat, walkable distance to Hilo downtown. I love the Poke Market, delicious poke bowl!The bed was extremely comfortable, we had great sleep. "The accommodations were terrific, a great value in superb location for visiting Volcanoes National Park and Hilo area. Spacious, comfortable beds. Host was very accommodating by offering to deliver to-go breakfasts as we had an early morning flight. I recommend the Lanikai Brewing Co for dinner if you stay here- the best food we ate in Hawaii for adults and kids- also great beer and excellent cocktail lists with low-key come as you are feel (i.e. sweatpants)."
