"Coming into Edinburgh, I really wanted to relax and take a shower after a long journey of traveling. The shower unfortunately only produced hot water for a few moments before becoming freezing cold. I then tried to relax with tv, and I tried repeatedly to get subtitles because I’m hard of hearing and although I manage this all the time wherever I am, it wouldn’t work. These are small issues that can be easily remedied, but the Gifford House operates entirely digitally. So there are no humans...

"Susan and Kelly are the best. They are the owners and they make you feel right at home. And breakfast was delicious. They had lots of options for breakfast and the service was great. It's not the ritziest hotel but it's the kindest set of people. We arrived a little earlier then check in time and Susan let us just go to our room which was so helpful. If you need someplace reasonably priced and clean and conveniently located it's great you're literally just a two or three minute walk to the bus...

"The location was good and convenient. However, unfortunately, there were several things that could have been better.
The breakfast provided was not good at all. It was basically just a small snack left in the room for us each day during the four days we stayed there. I would not consider this a proper breakfast.
Also, the bed was very small for two people, which made it difficult to sleep comfortably.
Overall, the location was a positive, but the breakfast and bed size were disappointing."

"Breakfast was awesome, and the staff treated us very nicely. Everyone was always friendly, welcoming, and greeted us with a smile.

Nowhere at all to hang outdoor clothing ... especially if wet. Yet there were acres of wall space to fit something to ... if only 6" nails ! The devil's in the detail. Both hooks and rails are inexpensive !"
