Think they need to remind folks about the smoking areas. Definitely got a few close whiffs while eating breakfast near the couches/TV area.

A fantastic hostel! Incredible staff, great people, very clean, and great services. They serve coffee and some food in the morning, offer boards and beach toys for rental, and have some very nice, comfortable common spaces. The rooms are very clean, beds are very comfortable, and are set up nicely to give you a private, cozy space even though you are in a room with 1-5 other people! This was my first time staying at a hostel and it was truly an excellent experience.

Property vibe and inside the hostel was great! Nice staff etc. There were a lot of homeless nearby so as a young solo and inexperienced traveller, it felt a little unsafe, and there are not many restaurants etc that are easy to access close by.

Fabulous place to stay
Probably the nicest, cleanest hostel I have stayed in anywhere in the world. Staff were super friendly great vibe to the place and perfectly situated close to beach, shops and restaurants. Only downside was on street parking but always managed to find a spot but you may have to drive a couple of laps to get close to the hostel.

Room I stayed in smelled horrible and had a person staying there who snored so loud he kept everyone up.

Hi Alvaro! Apologies you did not have a good experience with us. Our front desk is available 24 hours a day to assist in these matters. We are happy to increase ventilation with fans, and use air freshener to keep the room smelling as fresh as possible. We also offer free earplugs at the front desk to help keep the snoring at bay. This place is a gem. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The guests are all so respectful. This is my third time staying here and each time has been so nice!

This is the BEST hostel I’ve ever stayed in, by far. The service is better than a 5-star hotel. Shout out to Koa, Eric and Brandon who all went above and beyond to make my stay that much more awesome. I will be returning every year to stay at Samesun, San Diego! See ya in 2025☮️❤️😁

I stayed at Samesun for 4 night. They had 24/7 reception which was great for security and late flight times! The location is right on the beach , giving a chiller Venice beach vibe. The workers make sure the place stayed clean, I see them cleaning every morning ! The workers had great hiking and food recommendations. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was overall environment. There were some young groups who were just like me looking to explore new places , but there is also a wide range of people who are staying long term and are not permanently housed outside the hostel. Some of these individuals made it really hard to relax inside the hostel, I made sure to keep busy and stayed exploring. They made me feel super uncomfortable when I tried to relax around the hostel. At night it would get super rowdy within the hostel , i would hear a lot of banging. There was an obvious divide in guests where most of the people I met there were just as uncomfortable as me with the guests that were staying long term and even decided to leave early because you could not relax within the hostel it’s self. I was lucky to meet two amazing people , but I’m not sure Samesun is the environment I was looking for. There was great potential for the environment to be welcoming and friendly , it was already done by the workers and the LGBTQ community inclusion. The guest demographics was not at all as expected in the social media posts, but thank you for the memories and the walkable neighborhood

Loved my hostel stay
Great hostel. Newly-renovated, great staff and awesome facilities. Bed was quite squeaky and lacked privacy curtain. Loved the young lady at front desk as well as the helpful friendly Latin guy. Kudos to them. Energy bars pancakes and fruits at breakfast. Loved the hammock, couches, surfboard rental, beach towels rentals and availability of sunscreen.

This hostel is great. So close to the beach (OB). A lot to offer close by:restaurants, laundromat, drugstore, grocery store souve ir shops,... the staff is really nice and very helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Surprisingly wonderful
This hassle was surprisingly wonderful. Obviously it was affordable, but the amenities were better than I expected with breakfast including waffles,, pancakes, fruit, coffee and granola bars. The location could not be better for proximity to all the fun things in ocean beach. It also offered people watching at its finest. I recommend this hostel and plan to come back again.
