Had everything you need; air con, hairdryer, coffee machine, kettle, fan, lots of plug sockets. There are a few flights of stairs but it’s worth it for the beautiful view from the windows. We were able to store our luggage at the main office before check-in and after check-out which was really helpful. Would highly recommend!!!"

Where to stay in Siena

Siena City Centre
Step back in time as you wander through Siena's medieval centre, a UNESCO World Heritage site where history comes alive. Gothic buildings frame the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, home to the twice-yearly Palio horse race. The striped marble cathedral showcases stunning Bernini sculptures and intricate floor mosaics. Vehicle-free streets allow you to explore the contrade districts at your own pace. Duck into artisan workshops selling leather goods and hand-painted ceramics between visits to museums. Church bells echo across terracotta rooftops while traditional Tuscan trattorias serve pici pasta and wild boar.

Siena Historical Center
Step back in time among the rose-colored medieval buildings of Siena Historical Centre. Wander through the iconic shell-shaped Piazza del Campo or climb Torre del Mangia for breathtaking views across terracotta rooftops. The striking black-and-white marble cathedral stands as a masterpiece of Italian Gothic architecture. The neighborhood's pedestrian-only cobblestone streets create an immersive journey through Tuscan history. Traditional trattorias serve authentic pici pasta and local wines between ancient stone walls. Visit during early morning to experience the area before the tour groups arrive. The famous Palio horse race brings this UNESCO World Heritage site to vibrant life twice yearly.

Camollia
Step through the medieval gates of Camollia to discover Siena's northern historic district. This charming area features narrow cobblestone streets lined with ancient palazzos and Gothic arches. The hilltop Basilica dell'Osservanza rewards visitors with panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside. Traditional trattorias serve hearty Tuscan cuisine like ribollita and pici pasta. Local artisans craft ceramics and leather goods in small family workshops. The peaceful residential atmosphere offers an authentic slice of Italian life away from tourist crowds.

Ravacciano
Ravacciano offers a peaceful retreat from Siena's tourist bustle while keeping city attractions within reach. This authentic Italian area reveals everyday local life with its family-run trattorias and morning espresso culture. Small parks and olive trees line the narrow streets where cream and ochre buildings create a charming atmosphere. The area sits on Siena's eastern edge, a 25-minute walk to the historic centre. Traditional shops follow Italian rhythms with afternoon closures, while evenings bring a tranquil quiet rarely found in tourist zones. Budget-friendly accommodation make this residential haven ideal for travellers seeking genuine Tuscan experiences.

San Prospero
Step into San Prospero, a medieval treasure in Siena's UNESCO-protected heart. Wander cobblestone streets lined with weathered stone churches and traditional Tuscan palazzos. Gothic arches frame hidden courtyards where locals gather away from tourist paths. This pedestrian-only area rewards explorers with authentic Italian life. Family-run trattorias serve handmade pici pasta and local Chianti Classico. Artisan workshops display hand-painted ceramics and fine leather goods behind historic stone facades.

Hotel Chiusarelli
"Perfectly clean, not the biggest room but worked for our one night stay. The staff were lovely and the location was perfect. Would stay again."
Palazzo Ravizza
"quiet place for stay"
Hotel Italia
"Staff were most courteous, both at front desk (local map offered on checkin) and in breakfast room. Breakfast buffet offered plenty of choices. Room and bathroom clean and tidy. City attractions dispersed throughout city, but walking made them accessible."
Il Chiostro del Carmine
"Very helpful staff, which takes good care of guests."
Hotel Minerva
"Had a very nice stay here during the Palio. Easy walk to IL Campo. Located in the Lupa Contrada. Nice neighborhood. Easy walk (10-15 minutes) to the train station. Will stay here again when I return to Siena."
Grand Hotel Continental Siena – Starhotels Collezione
"Everything was absolutely perfect, this is our newest favorite hotel in sienna and we will definitely come back"
Hotel Athena
"We had a superior room, which was very comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant several times, and the food and drink was excellent. One evening we just enjoyed the cocktail bar, and the staff were fun! Breakfast buffet has everything one could want, and was always fresh. Free parking! You will have an uphill walk to the town centre, but no matter where you go in Siena it’s either up or down. Highly recommended."
Piccolo Hotel Etruria
"I truly enjoyed my experience and would definitely return. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for exceptional service and comfort."
Hotel Santa Caterina
"Hotel was located just outside of the gates to sienna. Half of our group walked to the center of town and half of our group took a taxi. The hotel called the taxi for us. The check-in was easy and the night person also ran the bar. We took our drinks out to the back patio area, which had a wonderful view of the city both night and daytime. Rooms were two levels. Ours had a bed downstairs with the bathroom and then a steeper staircase to a loft area with another two beds. It worked out fine. It is a very old building centuries old, which has been peacefully redone with antique accents. Yes I would stay here again."
